#The Still Voice#
A cry breaks the hush of ashes gray,
Through a sky where meaning slips away,
Like a tired cloud, towards the void's pale gleam.
A deep, old call, from souls in a dream,
Where truth lies hid, though rarely seen,
Whose eyes untouched by pretense mean,
Whose ears escape the constant, empty din.
Oh, shallow times of mirrors, thin and deep,
An era where bright pains are meant to keep
Concealed, where dancing on thought is prized,
And empty talk, a trophy recognized.
The soul laments, its compass lost and gone,
In a sea of show, till breaking dawn,
Where instant noise obscures the mind's clear way,
And images devour each profoundest day.
Worth's measured by fans, a sorrowful sight,
Not by awakened spirits, burning bright,
By face's beauty, not the heart's true light.
Yet, a strong call, that never meets its end,
A plea to hold fast, on true values depend,
Against this loud tide of things so frail,
Of surface living, and the ugly, common trail.
May we stand as rocks 'gainst the ocean's sway,
Proud, rooted deep, and lighting up the way,
In knowledge's dark, where light forgets to shine.
May we hold true words, with a voice divine,
To gazes deep, and thoughts that bravely rise,
From quiet thought, not fleeting, trendy lies.
A whisper to those who've forgotten, who wait:
True value doesn't boom, nor loudly state,
Nor in the fleeting gleam of glory's fading art.
It's not in "likes," a mirage that departs,
But in the depth that ever will remain,
In thought that lights and fights through every pain,
In truth that builds bridges from heart to heart.
True worth is real, played without a part,
To leave a mark that time cannot erase,
To light a flame no void can ever chase.
So you who hush in their wild, clamoring spree,
You, the profound, in their lost, unguided sea,
Do not despair; truth's voice, though it may seem
To fade a while, a momentary dream,
Will always sound within our deepest soul,
Until the earth, once more, regains control,
And meaning rules, a sovereign, guiding hand,
No longer lost in ash-grey, barren land.
