In an ocean of words, the truth is lost from sight,
The foolish pilot steers, guided by error's blight.
They cry, "Democracy of fools!" a name both rare and true,
But it's the one that fraud, with hatred, unravels anew.

The voice of reason is not the one that tells a lie,
The sun's not a faint shadow, the moon's not a candle in the sky.
Free speech is a duty, not a dream's fleeting art,
A pact of knowledge and reason, not illusion's counterpart.

In a time when the compass has lost its guiding way,
The wise are lost in news that twists and strays.
On Facebook and Twitter, the ignorant hold the floor,
Confusing what is true with what is false, without a moral core.

Populism, an arrow that pierces the heart in flight,
Exploits emotion instead of discussion's light.
They dress ideology in a velvet coat of gold,
And lies are sold as solutions that numb and make hope cold.

We've become adrift in a market of endless news,
Where every idea holds equal weight, a baseless ruse.
Knowledge and ignorance are leveled without a law,
And our time has gone blind, without a path to draw.

The experts are put on trial with no defense to give,
The scholars accused of treason, with no way to live.
While charlatans perform their beautiful, grand offense,
To steal our minds and push us to a dead end.

O voice that roused the slumbering mind to see,
You said the cure is in an education that sets us free.
To give back to the truth its value, its rightful place,
To strengthen our minds against lies that destroy our race.

To give freedom back its glory and its light,
And give democracy its passion and its might.
There's no democracy without a clear and critical mind,
Nor freedom without a true conscience you can find.

Nations aren't built on ignorance and misdirection,
But on truth, on light, and a practical sense of perfection.
